Hi Pia, a very nice compilation. Do you by any chance recall where you got the Emma Heerdt girl picture from? Best regards from Hamburg, Rolf
ReplyDeleteDear Rolf Thank you! I used to surf on Lottissimo (a German auction site). I guess it comes from there. It was so long time ago, that I don't remember any longer where I found this particular painting! I will check in my old computer perhaps I still have the 2 portraits there. Sometimes I save them under the Internet address. I will return to you if I can find any information. Hope you will have a nice and healthy 2020. Greetings Pia
ReplyDeleteDear Pia, thank you very much!I am working on the Heerdt family and found a notice that this girl might have been the cousin of Emma Heerdt, who was badly burnt and therefore for a consolation received this lovely portrait. Best regards, stay safe, Rolf
DeleteHi Rolf, it is so interesting somebody is working on the Heerdt family! Emma the painter was my great great aunt and in my family we still have some paintings by her father (not by her, unfortunately) and some friends. I have her memoirs, too, but if you work on the family you probably have them, too?
ReplyDeleteEllerton? What a nice surprise! Contact details s. below.
DeleteDear Anni, hoping to get in contact with you! Enquiring which part of the family you might belong to. Directly from Christian Heerdt? Via Kühner or Zoeppritz? Let me know! Mail below. Rolf
DeleteDear Anni and Rolf
ReplyDeleteI checked but could not find any other information about the picture I added. It is for sure from the Auction site Lottissimo like the little one above. Emma Heerdt was a fine painter that touch the soul with her compassionate portraits! That is why there are so few of her painting in circulation, even an untrained eye will detect the sincereness! If You write her name on Google com. You will see 2 beautiful drawings of Women and some still lifes! There was a painter called Johann Christian Heerdt born 1812 in Frankfurt who painted landscapes. Not sure if he was related to Emma. But he had a sister Elise who also married a painter. There are many fine painters who sadly today are totally unknown. I will make a board on Pinterest for Emma and add whatever paintings I find there. There might be more paintings to be found in old German Encyclopedias , newspapers or magazines. Greetings Pia Ranslet
Just published a book on Elise's husband in English, if you are interested, I send you the PDF. The Heerdts play a major role there. You have my mail below, best, Rolf
DeleteAbsolutely that will be interesting. My email is my first and last name in one word AT gmail.com Here are 3 paintings of Emma Heerdt https://www.artnet.com/artists/emma-heerdt/ You might be able to find more on Ebay.de or on Lottissimo auctions. Greetings Pia Ranslet

If you had a look at my Delkeskamp bio, you know that there is already quite a lot on the Heerdt family. I have more red haired pics, if you are interested. Best, Rolf
